Touch Landscapes offers the following garden and landscape design services:
Arranged at your convenience, during this meeting we will listen to your ideas and requirements for the space and discuss your budget. Together, we will discuss how you would like to use the area and the particular style or feel you would like to create. This is a fabulous opportunity for you to share any images you have of gardens or planting schemes that inspire you. We will also bring examples of recent work to show you, as well as explaining the design process in full. During the consultation we will view the garden for the first time, assessing it from a design perspective.
Following the initial meeting, you will receive a proposal for the design of the garden or landscape, a list of the stages and services involved, together with an outline of our fees. If you are happy with the proposal and wish to proceed, there are a number of stages outlined below that may be applicable to your project.
For our second visit we will measure the outdoor space and take photographs, recording the location of existing structures and plants, access points, drainage and services. We will also assess the aspect of the garden, establish whether it is sheltered or exposed and carry out soil tests.
A site survey and analysis is necessary to produce a scaled drawing of the space and to ensure all relevant details are recorded for consideration in the design. If the site is very large or complex, Touch Landscapes will recommend surveyors to carry out the survey. At this stage, the design brief can be developed further.
At Touch Landscapes we believe that combining the use of cutting-edge software with traditional art materials is the most effective means to communicating and bringing our designs to life. Having established all the facts, we will produce a new concept for your garden and present this to you. We will also develop a scaled master plan, detailing proposed areas of hard landscaping and planting. We will then refine the design, accommodating your feedback.
Once the master plan has been agreed, a planting scheme will be devised that works in harmony with the growing conditions of your outdoor space. Providing year round interest and complementing your design, the planting scheme ascertains the position and quantity of each plant. A plant schedule will also be produced which can be sent to a selected group of specialist nurseries to quote for supplying the plants.
Following approval of the plans, to aid the construction of the proposed hard landscaping we then produce construction drawings in CAD. We can also recommend specialist contractors to build the new garden. Should the contract be going out to tender to a range of landscape contractors, Touch Landscapes will prepare full specification and tender documentation and manage the tender process on your behalf.
It is generally recommended that soil improvement is undertaken at this time, with the addition of organic manures, giving plants the best start and helping them to establish. All plants will be delivered to site and can be set out by us before planting.
Now that you have your beautiful new garden, to help you to keep everything looking at its best all through the year, we can produce a maintenance schedule or arrange for a gardener to look after it for you. Ensuring your garden is a success is our top priority so if you require additional advice as your garden matures, do not hesitate to contact us.
